Flipkart Launches ‘EV Assist’ to Help Delivery Partners Switch to Electric Vehicles
New Delhi, June 7 (TNT): E-commerce major Flipkart on Sunday announced the introduction of EV Assist, a digital platform designed to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles among its delivery partners by connecting them with trusted EV fleet and rental service providers.
The platform is currently available for Flipkart Minutes delivery riders in more than 20 cities and seeks to address key challenges that often hinder EV adoption, including affordability, ownership costs and access to reliable rental options, the e-commerce major said in a release.
The launch comes as Flipkart continues to expand its electric mobility footprint.
The company’s EV fleet has more than doubled over the past year and crossed the milestone of 20,000 electric vehicles during the 2025 festive season.
According to the company, EV Assist has generated strong interest among delivery executives, with Delhi-NCR, Patna and Bengaluru emerging as key markets for the initiative.
A recent Flipkart study involving over 6,000 delivery partners found that nearly 46 per cent are willing to transition to electric mobility. However, challenges such as limited financing options, charging infrastructure constraints and concerns about the broader EV ecosystem continue to affect adoption.
The study also found that nearly 90 per cent of surveyed delivery partners spend between ₹2,000 and ₹5,000 per month on petrol.
Industry estimates indicate that electric two-wheelers can reduce fuel and energy expenses by 70–80 per cent, while lower maintenance costs could improve delivery partner earnings by 15–20 per cent.
Through EV Assist, delivery partners can explore a range of electric two-wheeler rental options tailored to their city and budget.
Users can compare plans ranging from below ₹1,000 to above ₹2,000 per week, register interest using basic details and connect directly with verified mobility providers for onboarding and vehicle allocation.
The platform also offers access to maintenance, servicing and operational support through partner organisations, helping reduce the challenges associated with vehicle ownership.
The EVs available through the programme are equipped with safety features and smart technologies such as GPS tracking, IoT-enabled monitoring and geofencing.
To improve accessibility, EV Assist is available in English, Hindi, Bengali and Kannada.
Commenting on the initiative, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, said India’s transition to electric mobility depends on making adoption easy and affordable for millions of people.
“With one of the country’s largest last-mile delivery networks, Flipkart is uniquely positioned to support this transition. Building systems that make EV adoption practical and accessible can create an impact far beyond our own operations,” he said.
Flipkart said EV Assist is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the electric mobility ecosystem. The company is working with infrastructure partners to expand charging facilities at key delivery hubs and along high-density routes.
It is also collaborating with vehicle manufacturers and financiers to improve access to EV ownership and leasing options.
As part of its wider sustainability efforts, Flipkart has also piloted electric trucks on mid-mile logistics routes, including NCR–Jaipur and NCR–Agra, in a bid to reduce emissions across its logistics network.
The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to promoting sustainable mobility while creating economic opportunities for delivery partners and supporting India’s transition to cleaner transportation solutions.
