Etihad Airways, Ibom Air sign interline agreement to expand connectivity in Nigeria

New Delhi, Oct 6 (TNT): Etihad Airways and Nigerian carrier Ibom Air have signed an interline agreement to provide Etihad passengers with connections from Lagos and Accra to five Nigerian cities on a single ticket from March 2027.

Under the agreement, passengers arriving in Lagos or Accra on Etihad Airways will be able to connect through Ibom Air to Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Enugu. Connections will also be available between Accra and Abuja and between Accra and Uyo.

The agreement will allow passengers to book the entire journey on a single ticket, with baggage checked through to their final destination, the airlines said on Tuesday.

Etihad will commence daily non-stop services between Abu Dhabi and Lagos from March 23, 2027, while services to Accra will operate four times a week from March 24, 2027.

Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De said the airline’s expansion in Africa would be supported by partnerships with regional carriers with established domestic networks.

Ibom Air Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer George Uriesi said the agreement would enable international travellers to access cities served by the airline through a single booking and strengthen its role as a domestic and regional connector for Etihad’s operations to Nigeria and Ghana.

Tickets combining the two airlines’ networks will go on sale from November 3, the airlines said.
