Electric buses aimed at making Tirumala hills pollution-free: AP CM
Tirumala, Sept 16 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the introduction of electric buses in Tirumala would help make the Tirumala hills pollution-free and promote environment-friendly transportation for devotees.
Naidu flagged off 32 electric buses at Narayanagiri Circle here, of which 25 were provided by Reliance Foundation and seven by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.
The Chief Minister, along with Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Anagani, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu and Executive Officer Ravichandra, flagged off the buses.
Reliance EV Mobility CEO Nitin Seth and Bharat Biotech Managing Director Suchitra Ella handed over charging stations to the TTD.
Naidu later travelled in one of the electric buses from Narayanagiri Circle to the Sri Venkateswara Museum.
The electric buses are expected to reduce dependence on conventional fuel-powered vehicles and support the TTD’s efforts to provide cleaner transportation for devotees.
Reliance Foundation had provided 25 electric buses and a dedicated charging station to the TTD, fulfilling a commitment made by Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani during his visit to Tirumala in June.
The initiative was undertaken by Reliance Foundation and Jio-bp, with the foundation providing philanthropic support and Jio-bp contributing expertise in electric mobility and EV charging infrastructure.
