Dy CM Bhatti says Telangana to become $3 trillion economy by 2047
Khammam, July 10 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said the Congress government aims to transform the State into a $3 trillion economy by 2047 through sustained investments in agriculture, women’s empowerment, welfare and infrastructure.
Addressing the Rythu Ashirwada Sabha at Jagannadhapuram in Chintakani mandal in the district, Bhatti said the government was committed to making Telangana globally competitive while ensuring inclusive development.
He said the Congress government viewed agriculture as a way of life and had spent Rs 1,67,877 crore on the farm sector during the last two-and-a-half years.
He claimed that Rs 9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme had been credited to farmers’ accounts within nine days, unlike the previous BRS government’s Rythu Bandhu payments, which he alleged were delayed.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government had waived farm loans worth Rs 21,000 crore, was procuring every grain produced by farmers, and was spending Rs 14,000 crore annually on free power supply to the agriculture sector.
Highlighting measures for women’s empowerment, he said the government had disbursed Rs 67,000 crore in bank linkage loans to women’s self-help groups in two-and-a-half years and aimed to extend Rs 1 lakh crore over five years.
He said the loan ceiling had been enhanced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, while women were also being encouraged to become entrepreneurs.
Launching a sharp attack on the previous BRS government, Bhatti alleged that irrigation projects built during earlier Congress regimes, including Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam, Jurala and SRSP, continued to benefit farmers, whereas the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project had failed despite huge public expenditure.
He accused BRS leaders of spreading false propaganda and alleged that large-scale irregularities had taken place in the execution of Godavari river projects during the previous regime.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Congress government was implementing welfare programmes despite inheriting a debt burden of Rs 8.21 lakh crore. He highlighted schemes including Indiramma Housing, subsidised rice distribution, 200 units of free electricity for eligible households, enhanced Aarogyasri health insurance coverage and the Indiramma Bima scheme.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to transparent governance, Bhatti said Telangana would emerge as a globally competitive economy while safeguarding public resources and ensuring prosperity for all sections of society.
