Dr Umar Alisha Celebrates Yeruvaka Pournima, Urges Farmers to Embrace Modern, Natural Farming

Kakinada, June 29 (TNT): Viswa Vignana Vidya Adhyathmika Peetham chief Dr Umar Alisha on Monday called upon farmers to transform themselves into agricultural scientists and entrepreneurs, saying they are the backbone of the nation.

Marking the traditional Yeruvaka Pournima festival, Dr Alisha, dressed in traditional farmer’s attire, personally ploughed agricultural land at the Peetham’s main Ashram, symbolically inaugurating the farming season.

Later, while presiding over the Sasya Vruddhi Beejaropana Mahotsav, he said it has been a long-standing tradition to commence agricultural activities on Yeruvaka Pournima by worshipping cows, revered as mothers in Indian culture.

He said the Peetham was continuing this tradition by promoting spiritual agriculture and encouraged farmers to adopt modern agricultural implements along with natural farming practices to achieve higher productivity.

On the occasion, Dr Alisha felicitated progressive natural farmers, including Reddi Rambabu of Mummidivaram, Settipalli Babji of Seetharampuram, Gali Baby of Chimalavarigudem, Malireddi Venkateswara Rao of Somavaram and Pyla Satyanarayana of Polavaram, in recognition of their contribution to natural farming.

Peetham Convenor Peruri Suribabu welcomed the gathering.
