Daylight Dacoity at Jewellery shop in Karimnagar; Five Armed Men Loot Gold, Four Injured

Karimnagar (Telangana), May 3 (TNT):  In a daring daylight robbery, five armed assailants opened fire and looted gold jewellery from a PMJ jewellery store in Jyothinagar here on Sunday morning, injuring four staff members.

According to police, the incident occurred between 11:00 a.m. and 11:11 a.m. when five motorcycle-borne dacoits arrived on two bikes and entered the shop in a coordinated manner.

One of the accused initially posed as a customer seeking a gram gold chain, followed by others who engaged staff under the pretext of purchasing jewellery before all five converged inside.

One of the accused brandished a pistol and threatened the security guard at point-blank range, while the others drew firearms and forced employees to kneel.

When staff attempted to resist, the assailants opened fire, leaving four workers injured.

The injured staff incluidng a sales manager and  security guard were shifted to different hospitals, and their condition is reported to be stable, police said.

The robbers fled with approximately one kilogram of gold jewellery, according to preliminary estimates.

Police said the accused conversed in both Hindi and Telugu during the heist.

Teams from the police and CLUES unit rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.

CCTV footage from the store has been secured and released, capturing images of the suspects.

Four cartridges and one magazine were recovered from the incident spot.

Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam,  who visited the scene and stated that multiple teams have been formed to trace the accused.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, local MLA Gangula Kamalakar  and DCC president Medipally Satyam visited the spot and enquired about the incident.
