Cycle rally held in Kakinada to promote patriotism
Kakinada, Aug 12 (TNT): A cycle rally was organised from the Collectorate to the main streets of Kakinada on Wednesday to promote patriotism and national spirit and remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
The rally was organised under the supervision of the district administration and was flagged off by Municipal Commissioner NVV Satyanarayana.
Speaking on the occasion, Satyanarayana said it was a matter of pride to be a citizen of India and recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters that led to the country’s Independence.
He said people were now enjoying freedom and rights guaranteed by the Constitution and stressed the need to remind present and future generations of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.
The Commissioner said such programmes were being organised to foster patriotism and national spirit among people and create awareness about the contribution of freedom fighters.
He appealed to people to participate in large numbers in programmes aimed at promoting national unity and patriotic spirit.
The rally culminated in a public meeting at Raja Tank, where the Municipal Commissioner administered the Independence Day oath to the participants.
Additional Municipal Commissioner K T Sudhakar, Deputy Commissioner K Srinivas, SE P Venkatrao, Health Officer Dr Prudhwi Charan, Data Officer Chakravarthy, DE Lakshminarayana, Electrical AE Arjun, Horticulture AD Srinivasa Rao and sanitation inspectors participated in the rally.
