AP: 60 kgs Ganja seized in Kakinada, five member women gang held
Kakinada , Aug 12 *TNT): The Railway police arrested a five member women gang with 60 kgs ganja worth over Rs.30 lakhs during their regular checking at the Samalkot railway station at the end of the platform number two and three on Wednesday.
Railway circle Inspector Srinivasa reddy and Subinspector Vasu told media persons that the five women were moving under suspicious circumstances on the platforms and when checked found the Ganja bundles kept on railway track below the platforms .
They were identified as belonging to Bitragunta in Nellore district.
They confessed during the preliminary investigation that they were purchasing the Ganja from a person in Tikri village near Rayagada and selling them packing in small sachets in Bitragunta area for eking out a livelihood.
A case was registered and the arrested five women would be produced before the court at Vijayawada tomorrow, the police Inspector added.
