CSIR-NGRI, DGH sign MoU for geoscientific exploration, resource assessment
Hyderabad, Aug 27 (TNT): The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in geoscientific exploration and subsurface resource assessment.
The MoU was signed by DGH Director General Dr Srikant Nagulapalli and CSIR-NGRI Director Dr Prakash Kumar in the presence of DGH ADG Dr Sobhan Pathak, Geologist Devidutt Sangwar and scientists and officials of CSIR-NGRI.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagulapalli highlighted India’s growing energy requirements and the need to strengthen domestic exploration through modern technologies, scientific expertise and institutional collaboration.
He said such partnerships would help advance exploration activities and contribute to the country’s energy security.
Dr Prakash Kumar said the MoU would bring together the scientific expertise of CSIR-NGRI and the exploration mandate of DGH.
He emphasised the role of advanced geophysical technologies and integrated subsurface studies in strengthening exploration and resource assessment.
The MoU will facilitate technical and scientific cooperation, knowledge exchange and collaborative exploration-oriented studies, supporting India’s efforts towards energy security and resource development.
The collaboration is also aimed at contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat, the organisations said.
