CPM opposes shifting of Ayurveda College, seeks immediate opening of Ayush Hospital
Kakinada, Aug 3 (TNT): The CPI(M) on Monday opposed the reported proposal to shift the proposed Ayurveda College attached to the Ayush Hospital in Kakinada to Pithapuram and demanded immediate inauguration of the hospital, alleging that it has remained non-functional despite being constructed with Central government funds.
A delegation of the party submitted a memorandum, signed by over 1,000 people, to District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad during the public grievance programme, urging the government to operationalise the Ayush Hospital without further delay.
The CPI(M) also expressed concern over reports that the land earmarked for the proposed Ayurveda College could be allotted to private parties in the name of tourism development.
Addressing the Collector, CPI(M) city unit convenor Palivela Veerababu said the delay in opening the hospital and uncertainty over the proposed Ayurveda College had caused concern among the public.
The delegation urged the district administration to retain the proposed Ayurveda College at Kakinada and provide road connectivity to the Ayush Hospital by linking it to the Mutha Gopalakrishna Varadhi road.
According to party leaders, the Collector assured the delegation that the Ayush Hospital would be inaugurated after completion of the staff recruitment process.
CPI(M) leaders Malaka Venkataramana, K. Nagajyothi, Medisetti Venkataramana and K. Damayanthi were among those present.
