Counting for Five State Assembly Polls to Begin Tomorrow

New Delhi, May 3 (TNT) : Counting of votes for the recently held Assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry will commence at 8:00 AM on Monday, with early trends expected to emerge by around 9:00 AM.

Officials said a clearer picture of the results is likely to be available by the afternoon as counting progresses across centres under tight security arrangements.

In West Bengal, a keen contest is expected between the All India Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In Tamil Nadu, the main electoral battle is between alliances led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

The Election Commission of India has made elaborate security arrangements at all counting centres, deploying central forces to ensure strict monitoring and maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, the Commission has ordered re-polling in the Falta constituency of West Bengal.

The re-poll will be held on May 21 in 285 polling stations, while counting of votes in the constituency will take place on May 24.
