CII Energy Efficiency Summit concludes in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Sept 19 (TNT) : The 25th CII Energy Efficiency Summit 2026 concluded here on Friday with policymakers, industry leaders and energy experts calling for greater adoption of energy efficiency, clean technologies and digital solutions to accelerate India’s transition towards a Net Zero economy.
Held with the theme “Accelerating the transition to a Net Zero economy through energy efficiency, clean technologies, and sustainable practices”, the three-day summit brought together more than 2,500 stakeholders, including government representatives, industry, technology providers, cleantech startups, academia and sustainability experts.
The deliberations highlighted that energy efficiency has evolved beyond a cost-saving and compliance measure into a strategic tool for economic growth, industrial competitiveness and decarbonisation.
Participants emphasised the need to integrate energy efficiency with electrification, renewable energy, clean technologies, digitalisation, resource efficiency and innovative financing to build a competitive and resilient industrial economy.
The summit also hosted the 27th CII National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2026, which recorded 315 recognitions involving 263 industries across more than 15 sectors.
Awards were presented across categories including National Energy Leader, Excellent and Energy Efficient Units, Most Innovative Project and Useful Presentation, and Young and Emerging Leaders in Energy Efficiency.
The 22nd CII Power Plant Summit 2026 focused on improving the efficiency, flexibility, sustainability and digitalisation of thermal power plants.
The CII Thermal Power Plant Benchmarking Report 2026 was released during the event, highlighting performance gaps, best practices and opportunities for improving efficiency, emissions and resource utilisation.
The 20th CII PaperTech 2026 discussed technology, innovation, sustainability and operational excellence in the pulp and paper sector.
The Best Practice Manual in Paper Sector – Volume 14, featuring 11 case studies from leading paper manufacturers and technology providers in India and five other countries, was also released.
Several other platforms addressed green steel, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), industrial electrification, artificial intelligence and digitalisation, industrial heat pumps, industry-academia collaboration, cleantech and greening of MSMEs.
The CII Heat Pump Alliance launched the India Heat Pump Atlas, mapping more than 2,200 industrial and commercial installations representing around 288 MW of thermal capacity. The atlas is based on installation data contributed by 13 technology partners.
The summit also witnessed the launch of the MSME Marketplace and the CII-JK Cement Industrial Innovation Accelerator, aimed at facilitating industry collaboration and accelerating technology adoption.
The publication The Energy Efficiency Imperative: Lessons from the Past, Leadership for the Future, featuring insights from more than 30 policymakers, industry leaders, regulators and institution-builders, was also released.
More than 60 national and international speakers participated in the summit, while an exposition featuring over 75 innovative technologies and solutions showcased developments in energy efficiency, clean technology and sustainable practices.
The summit concluded with an emphasis on scaling proven technologies, accelerating electrification, deploying AI and digital tools, strengthening industry-academia collaboration and facilitating innovative financing to support India’s energy transition.
