Centre Tests Nationwide Mobile Alert System with Emergency Alarm at 11:46 AM

New Delhi, May 2 (TNT): The Central Government has alerted people across the country through mobile phone alarms as part of a nationwide test.

At around 11:46 am, an alert tone was triggered on mobile phones, drawing public attention.

The government stated that it has introduced a *cell broadcast system* to quickly alert and inform citizens during disaster situations.

Clarifying the alert, the Government of India said that it was only a test message.

The service has been launched using indigenous technology to provide immediate disaster management warnings to Indian citizens.
