Centre Supporting Telangana, Singareni Gets Third Coal Block: Union Minister Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, Aug. 4 (TNT): Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said the Centre is extending full support to Telangana’s development and has allotted the PKOC-2 Dip Side coal block at Manuguru to state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), marking the company’s third consecutive coal block allocation.

Addressing a press conference here, Kishan Reddy said he had been in constant touch with the Telangana Government since assuming charge as Union Coal Minister and had encouraged Singareni to actively participate in coal block auctions.

Despite interest from several companies, the PKOC-2 Dip Side Block was allotted to SCCL keeping the company’s long-term interests in view, he said.

He recalled that the Tadicherla coal block had also been allotted to Singareni earlier and said the latest allocation would further strengthen the company.

The Union Minister alleged that both the BRS and the Congress governments had exploited Singareni and claimed that dues amounting to ₹54,000 crore relating to the company and its employees had accumulated during the tenures of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and the present Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Demanding that the State Government release the pending dues immediately, he questioned why the payments had not yet been made and said the Telangana BJP would continue to raise the issue.
