Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda in Hyderabad to mark centenary with marathon on Sunday
Hyderabad, Aug 22 (TNT): The historic Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda, which completes 100 years in 2026, will kick off its centenary celebrations with a grand marathon here on Sunday.
The Centenary Marathon, themed “Run for Faith, Run for Sewa”, will feature 3K, 5K and Family Walkathon categories and is expected to draw around 5,000 participants from across Telangana, a release said here on Saturday.
The marathon will be flagged off at 5.45 am on August 23 from the HMDA Grounds near IMAX, Khairatabad. Participants will proceed through People’s Plaza and Necklace Road before returning to the starting point.
The event is being organised by the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda in association with Sikh gurudwaras across Telangana to commemorate the landmark centenary.
Committee Chairman S Rajender Singh, President S Trilok Singh, Secretary S Harvinder Singh Pandath, Vice-Presidents S Inder Pal Singh and S Surinder Pal Singh and committee members said all arrangements had been made for the event.
Winners in various categories will be presented medals, while all participants will receive T-shirts and digital certificates. Breakfast, refreshments and medical support will also be provided.
The centenary celebrations will continue with a series of religious and community programmes, including Akhand Path Sahib, Kirtan Darbar and Amrit Sanchar, among other events planned in September.
S Trilok Singh said Surender Pal Singh Saluja, Ranbeer Singh Gandhi, Surender Singh Arora, Amrit Soma Parivaar and Namdhari Events were supporting partners for the marathon.
The celebrations aim to commemorate a century of the gurudwara’s spiritual, cultural and community service and its contribution to the Sikh community in Hyderabad.
