Hyderabad, July 8 (TNT): Chris Cooter, Canada’s High Commissioner to India, on Wednesday met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and invited him to lead a state delegation to Canada to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and innovation.

During the meeting, the two discussed opportunities for expanding Canada-Telangana partnerships, particularly in infrastructure, urban development, technology and clean energy, according to an official release.

The discussions focused on key infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Telangana government, including the Musi River Development Project, Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion and the proposed Future City initiative.

Highlighting the growing Canadian footprint in Telangana, Cooter referred to Firan Technology Group’s decision to establish a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce’s Global Capability Centre in the city.

The Chief Minister also briefed the High Commissioner on the government’s plans to rejuvenate the Musi River as part of a broader strategy to develop a new economic corridor along the riverfront. He sought Canada’s cooperation in Telangana’s solarisation initiatives and efforts to promote a green economy.

Pitching Hyderabad as a global knowledge hub, Revanth Reddy said several leading international universities were planning to establish campuses in the city and invited a consortium of Canadian universities to consider setting up a multi-university campus in Hyderabad.

He also invited Canadian companies, investors and institutions to participate in the second edition of the Telangana Global Investors Summit, scheduled to be held in December, to explore investment opportunities in the state.

Praising Telangana’s development model, Cooter said the state possesses immense potential backed by its skilled talent pool and forward-looking approach towards economic growth and job creation.
