BRs Working Prez KTR alleges Rs 10k cr scam in Singareni, demands independent probe

Godavarikhani (Peddapalli district), Oct 14 (TNT: BRS working president and former IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday accused the Congress government of corruption and financial mismanagement in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), alleging irregularities worth ₹10,000 crore and demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a sitting judge.

Addressing the Singareni Karmika Garjana meeting at Godavarikhani, KTR vowed to resist any attempt to privatise the coal company and warned of intensified protests if the government failed to release workers’ pending dues and benefits.

Alleging irregularities in the Naini coal block tenders, open-cast mining contracts, machinery purchases and site-visit certificates, he sought a comprehensive investigation into the transactions.

He also questioned Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s claim that cancellation of the Naini tender had saved ₹30,000 crore and demanded clarity on the alleged beneficiaries of the deal.

KTR further alleged that ₹6,317 crore had been diverted or improperly utilised over two years, comprising ₹2,283 crore in 2023-24 and ₹4,034 crore in 2024-25.

He demanded a transparent account of Singareni’s expenditure, fund transfers and financial transactions.

Claiming that around ₹60,000 crore was due to Singareni from the state government, the BRS leader alleged that delayed payments were affecting the company’s financial stability, equipment procurement and mining operations.

He also expressed concern over the reported decline in coal production from around 70 million tonnes to 58 million tonnes, attributing it to tender delays and administrative failures.

He questioned the coal shortages cited to explain reduced thermal power generation and demanded disclosure of production, stock and supply figures.

Accusing the Congress government of failing to honour its assurances to workers, KTR alleged that profit-sharing payments had been restricted to 16 per cent in the first year and 12 per cent in the second year.

He demanded the release of pending profit shares, bonuses and other benefits.

Reiterating the BRS opposition to privatisation, KTR accused the Congress and BJP of pursuing policies that threatened public sector institutions and called for accountability from the state government, SCCL management and the Centre.

He warned that the BRS would lay siege to the residences of Congress ministers and MLAs if workers were denied their legitimate dues.

He called upon Singareni employees to unite to protect their rights and safeguard the future of the public sector enterprise.
