BJP Holds Massive Tiranga Yatra in Hyderabad Ahead of Independence Day
Hyderabad, Aug 14 (TNT): The Telangana BJP on Friday organised a massive ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from the BR Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund to the Swami Vivekananda statue, with a large number of party workers, youth and members of the public participating in the programme ahead of the 80th Independence Day.
Addressing the gathering, Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Telangana and thanked the participants for taking part in the yatra with enthusiasm and discipline.
Rao said the participation of a large number of youngsters reflected their commitment to the nation and called upon people to work collectively for patriotism, national unity and the integrity of the country.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said the yatra was organised following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call and noted that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign had led to the national flag being displayed at crores of homes across the country.
Recalling the sacrifice of Sama Jagan Mohan Reddy, an ABVP worker from Kakatiya University, Kishan Reddy said he had lost his life after opposing the burning of the national flag by Naxalites at the university.
The Union Minister alleged that certain opposition forces were attempting to obstruct the country’s development and said people should remain vigilant against attempts to undermine national unity and security.
Kishan Reddy also criticised Telangana opposition parties over their stand on ‘Vande Mataram’ and challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to take action against Majlis leaders who, he alleged, had opposed the song.
Rajya Sabha MP and BJP OBC Morcha national president Dr K Laxman said India’s diversity in language, religion, region and culture was united by a common national sentiment.
He called upon people to work towards the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and thwart attempts to divide the country along caste, religious or regional lines.
Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had demonstrated the meaning of development through his actions.
Referring to the issue of reducing the voting age for youth raised by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Sanjay said the Congress government should also provide greater representation to the younger generation in the state Cabinet and give priority to Gen Z in MLC and MLA tickets.
Former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, MP Etala Rajender and other BJP leaders also addressed the gathering.
