AP Govt Launches Fine Rice Sales at Rs 52/kg to Curb Rising Prices
Kakinada, Aug. 7 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar on Friday said the State Government has launched the sale of fine rice at Rs 52 per kg as a market intervention measure to provide relief to consumers amid rising prices in the open market.
Inaugurating a special rice sale counter at the Super Bazaar here, the Minister said the government was committed to public welfare and had taken the initiative to ensure availability of quality rice at an affordable price.
He said the government was implementing welfare and development programmes despite financial constraints.
Manohar accused the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading misinformation for political gains and appealed to people not to be misled by what he termed as false propaganda.
Later, the Minister, accompanied by Kakinada City MLA Vanamadi Kondababu and Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Nanaji, inaugurated another special rice sale counter at the Rama Rao Peta Super Bazaar.
Among those present were Kakinada Urban Development Authority Chairman Thalatam Satya, AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Thota Sudhir, DCCB Chairman Thummala Ramaswamy, Revenue Divisional Officer Sripada Mallibabu, Super Bazaar Chairman Presingi Adinarayana, District Supply Officer Prasanna Lakshmi Devi and other officials.
