AP CM to lay foundation for four water projects worth Rs 1,392 cr in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam, Sept 16 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will lay foundation stones for four water supply and infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,392 crore and inaugurate another project costing Rs 446 crore during his visit to Visakhapatnam on September 19, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said on Wednesday.
The four projects include the Rs 725-crore 24/7 water supply project in Madhurawada and adjoining areas, Rs 117-crore modernisation of bulk and semi-bulk water supply connections, Rs 150-crore dedicated industrial water supply pipeline and Rs 400-crore water supply and sewerage works under AMRUT 2.0.
The Chief Minister will inaugurate the Rs 446-crore Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Reduction and 24/7 Water Supply System project in GVMC’s North-West Sector.
The Rs 725-crore project, being taken up under the Urban Challenge Fund, is aimed at modernising water supply infrastructure and providing continuous water supply to residents of Madhurawada and adjoining areas.
The Rs 117-crore project will involve rehabilitation and improvement of existing bulk and semi-bulk water supply connections through advanced metering, automation and SCADA for centralised monitoring and efficient management of the distribution network.
A Rs 150-crore dedicated industrial water supply pipeline will be developed under AMRUT 2.0 through the PPP mode from the Narava Water Treatment Plant to HPCL and other industries along the Port Road.
The Rs 400-crore AMRUT 2.0 project comprises five water supply works and two sewerage works aimed at strengthening the city’s water and sewerage infrastructure.
The Rs 446-crore NRW Reduction project is intended to reduce leakages and water losses in the distribution network and improve the efficiency of water supply services.
The Chief Minister will also distribute house-site pattas to beneficiaries during his visit, the Commissioner said.
