AP CM Naidu to launch Rs 3,892-cr development projects in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam, Sept 21 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will virtually inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 3,892 crore under the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) from Kuppam on Tuesday.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said the projects, worth Rs 3,531.47 crore under GVMC and Rs 360.49 crore under VMRDA, would focus on drinking water supply, sewerage, AI-based traffic management, city automation, roads, parks and sports infrastructure.
The programme will be held at V Convention in Madhurawada , with public representatives and officials of the departments concerned participating.
Among the major projects, foundation stones will be laid for a Rs 725.18-crore 24/7 drinking water supply system covering Madhurawada, East Zone and surrounding areas, a Rs 117.24-crore modernisation of bulk and semi-bulk water connections with advanced metering and SCADA systems, and a Rs 150-crore industrial water supply pipeline from Narava Water Treatment Plant to HPCL and other industries.
Five drinking water supply works and two sewerage projects worth Rs 400 crore will be taken up under AMRUT 2.0. A Rs 446-crore NRW reduction and 24/7 drinking water supply project in the GVMC North-West Sector will also be inaugurated.
A comprehensive sewerage system in Madhurawada Zone-II will be taken up at Rs 658.61 crore, while sewage collection and conveyance works in Gajuwaka under Sewerage Package-II will cost Rs 150 crore.
A Rs 452.42-crore sewage collection and conveyance system along with a 46 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant in Pendurthi will also be inaugurated.
For traffic management, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Rs 99.19-crore AI-based SARTHI Intelligent Traffic Management System covering 101 junctions. A Rs 64.80-crore New City Operation Center – AI & Automation project will also be taken up.
Smart Vending Zones developed at a cost of Rs 10 crore in Madhurawada and Gajuwaka will be inaugurated.
Road development works, including conversion of earthen roads into BT/CC roads and allied infrastructure, will be taken up at a total cost of Rs 400 crore, with GVMC and VMRDA contributing Rs 200 crore each.
Foundation stones will also be laid for 165 colony-level parks across eight Assembly constituencies at a cost of Rs 92.54 crore, including 123 parks under GVMC and 42 under VMRDA.
Under VMRDA, sports facilities will be developed at Pedagantyada at Rs 9.09 crore, while roads, drains, parks and street lighting will be developed in Vizianagaram, Nellimarla, Narsipatnam and Yelamanchili municipalities at Rs 113 crore.
An alternative BT road from the hairpin bend to the Telugu Museum atop Kailasagiri Hill will also be taken up at a cost of Rs 3.40 crore.
