AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to inspect Veligonda Project, launch Sanjeevani outreach in Markapuram Dist.

Amaravati, June 26 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will visit Markapuram district on Saturday to inspect the ongoing works of the Veligonda Project and participate in the Sanjeevani healthcare programme in Giddalur constituency.

During his visit, the Chief Minister will inspect the progress of the Veligonda Project, interact with beneficiaries and review the implementation of the major irrigation project, which is expected to provide irrigation to 4.47 lakh acres and drinking water to 15.25 lakh people across 30 mandals in the districts of Markapuram, Prakasam, Nellore and Kadapa.

According to an official release, the project is being executed in two phases.

The first phase will provide irrigation to 1.19 lakh acres and drinking water to four lakh people, while the second phase will extend irrigation to 3.28 lakh acres and drinking water to 11.25 lakh people.

The government has already spent over Rs 5,000 crore on the first phase. Excavation of the nearly 19-km Tunnel-I, along with the exit channel, link channel, feeder canal, Teegaleru and Gottipadi main canal works, has been completed, while construction of the head regulators, tunnel lining, approach channel and eastern main canal is in the final stages.

The state government has also spent Rs 190 crore towards rehabilitation and resettlement of families displaced from 11 villages affected by the project.

Following the project inspection, Naidu will visit Krishnamsettipalli Primary Health Centre in Giddalur constituency to participate in the Sanjeevani programme, an initiative aimed at providing accessible and affordable healthcare through a comprehensive digital platform.

The Sanjeevani project seeks to integrate healthcare services from Health Sub-Centres and Primary Health Centres to district hospitals and super-speciality institutions through a single digital platform, with AI-enabled medical support and digital health records.

The Chief Minister will interact with Sanjeevani beneficiaries and medical staff before addressing a public meeting later in the day. He will also hold a review meeting with TDP leaders and party workers.
