Annual Srivari Jyeshtabhishekam to be Held in Tirumala from June 26 to 28
Tirumala, June 15 (TNT): The annual Salakatla Jyeshtabhishekam, also known as Abhideyaka Abhishekam, will be observed at the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala from June 26 to 28, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) announced on Monday.
The three-day religious festival is conducted every year during the month of Jyeshta and concludes on the day of Jyeshta Nakshatra. The rituals will be performed at the Kalyana Mandapam in the Sampangi Prakaram of the Srivari Temple.
According to TTD, the festival is observed to preserve and protect the ancient utsava idols from wear and tear caused by the various abhishekams performed throughout the year.
On the first day, the golden armour adorning Sri Malayappa Swamy will be removed, following which homams, abhishekams and Panchamrutha Snapana Tirumanjanam will be performed. The deity will then be adorned with a diamond-studded armour.
On the second day, the utsava deity will be decorated with a pearl armour.
On the concluding day, Sri Malayappa Swamy will once again be adorned with the traditional golden armour, which will remain on the deity until the next Jyeshtabhishekam festival.
TTD said the golden armour is removed only once a year during this annual ritual, while the utsava deity participates in various festivals throughout the year wearing the same.
Meanwhile, in view of the Jyeshtabhishekam celebrations, TTD has cancelled Arjita Sevas, including Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva and Arjita Brahmotsavam, on June 28.
