Amara Raja Marks World Environment Day with Sustainability Initiatives, Plantation Drive
Tirupati, June 5 (TNT): Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M) on Friday celebrated World Environment Day FY26 across its facilities with a series of programmes highlighting its commitment to sustainability, climate action, resource conservation and environmental protection.
The celebrations were held under the leadership and sustainability vision of Narayan Choudhary and were centred around the 2026 global theme, “NowForClimate – Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
The theme underscored the importance of collective climate action, responsible environmental stewardship and nature-based solutions for building a sustainable future.
As part of the programme, Head–ISBU Operations M. Srinivasa Rao and Head–ASBU Operations B. Muneeswara Naidu participated along with senior officials from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries stressed that environmental protection is not merely a regulatory requirement but a collective responsibility shared by individuals, industries and institutions.
They emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to preserve natural resources and ensure a sustainable future.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sadasivan Suresh Kumar, Head–Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), highlighted the growing global concern over climate change and the need to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
He called for immediate and practical measures to reduce environmental impact, conserve natural resources, protect biodiversity and strengthen sustainability efforts for future generations.
The event also showcased Amara Raja’s ongoing sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy adoption, energy-efficiency improvements, water conservation, wastewater treatment and reuse, waste reduction, recycling, greenbelt development, pollution prevention and carbon footprint reduction across its operations.
As part of a special green initiative, more than 450 saplings were planted by employees and department heads at the company’s facilities in Karakambadi in Tirupati district and Nunegundlapalli in Chittoor district.
The plantation drive symbolised the organisation’s continued efforts to enhance green cover, promote ecological balance and contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.
Through the celebrations, Amara Raja reaffirmed its commitment to integrating environmental responsibility into its business operations and contributing towards a climate-resilient and sustainable future.
Among those present were B.Y. Muniprasad, Senior Environmental Engineer (Zonal Office), Ch. Rajasekhar, Senior Environmental Engineer (Regional Office), and Manohar Cheeli, Environmental Engineer (Zonal Office).
