Hyd: Cab driver held for forging 2BHK allotment orders, cheating over 50 people
Hyderabad, Aug 1 (TNT): The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, in coordination with Moghalpura police, has arrested a cab driver for allegedly forging allotment orders of double-bedroom (2BHK) houses under the government’s Dignity Housing Scheme and cheating over 50 people by promising to secure flats, police said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Syed Salman (27), a resident of Salala, Barkas in Chandrayangutta, was apprehended by the Jubilee Hills Zone Task Force.
Seized 52 forged 2BHK allotment order copies and a mobile phone from his possession.
According to the police, Salman, who had discontinued his studies after SSC, had earlier worked at MeeSeva centres before joining a private school as a helper.
During this period, he allegedly devised a plan to make money by falsely claiming that he had contacts with officials in the Collector’s Office who could arrange allotment of government 2BHK houses.
The accused first convinced a woman known to him and her family members to pay him ₹1.5 lakh in instalments for securing flats. He also collected copies of Aadhaar cards and passport-size photographs from the victims on the pretext of processing their applications.
He later handed over forged allotment orders claiming that the houses had been sanctioned, police said.
Investigators said Salman adopted the same modus operandi to cheat more than 50 people, collecting several lakh rupees before diverting the money for personal use.
The accused has been handed over to Moghalpura police for further legal action.
The operation was carried out by the Jubilee Hills Zone Task Force led by Inspector Ch. Yadender, along with SI Mohd Jahed and other personnel, in coordination with Moghalpura police.
