AP Govt rules out privatisation of Sub-Registrar Offices, clarifies role of Registration Service Kendras
Amaravati, July 20 (TNT):Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday clarified that the proposed Registration Service Kendras (RSKs) are intended only to provide faster and more citizen-friendly registration services and do not amount to the privatisation of Sub-Registrar Offices.
During a review meeting at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre in the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed officials to counter what he described as false propaganda regarding the alleged privatisation of Sub-Registrar Offices.
Naidu said the Registration Service Kendras would function on the lines of Passport Seva Kendras, simplifying the registration process while statutory functions would continue to remain with the government.
He said certain groups were deliberately spreading misinformation about the initiative and directed officials to create public awareness about the objectives and benefits of the new system.
The Chief Minister also assured document writers that their livelihood would not be affected and said the government would provide suitable alternative employment opportunities wherever required.
Reviewing the implementation of the Deepam-2.0 scheme, Naidu directed officials to ensure that subsidy amounts are credited to beneficiaries on predetermined dates through coordination between the Civil Supplies and Finance Departments.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the issue of habitual litigant petitioners and said complaints filed without genuine public interest should be identified and the petitioners counselled. Officials informed him that 81 habitual litigants had been identified across the State, each filing an average of 246 petitions.
He directed District Collectors to examine petitions involving genuine public interest while identifying complaints filed with the sole intention of maligning the government or its officials.
Naidu instructed officials to resolve non-financial grievances immediately and prioritise the disposal of financial grievances.
Reviewing the rainfall situation, the Chief Minister said the State had received 49 per cent deficient rainfall so far this year due to the impact of El Niño. He directed officials to promote drought-resistant crops, create awareness among farmers and formulate alternative strategies to mitigate the impact of the rainfall deficit.
He also asked officials to take up Viksit Bharat Gram Gram (VBGG) works on a large scale and integrate them with Jaladhara water conservation works.
Emphasising proactive governance, Naidu said the administration should continuously assess public feedback, improve governance practices and anticipate emerging challenges to enable timely preventive action.
