AP CM Naidu reviews Bhogapuram airport inauguration preparations, calls it ‘jewel of North Andhra’
Amaravati, July 20 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram would emerge as the “jewel of North Andhra” and directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1.
Reviewing the preparations with senior officials, the Chief Minister instructed that the inaugural function be conducted on a grand scale and that the Prime Minister be accorded a traditional welcome showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the North Andhra region.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that, besides inaugurating the passenger terminal building, the Prime Minister would also dedicate the GMR Skill Development Centre, the Aviation Hub-University and the GMR-MANSAS Edu City.
Describing the airport as a landmark infrastructure project, Naidu said it would serve as a logistics hub, provide global connectivity and emerge as a game changer for Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth.
The Chief Minister directed officials to honour farmers and landowners who had parted with their land for the project by offering them a one-time complimentary air travel opportunity.
He also instructed officials to make comprehensive arrangements, including traffic management, parking facilities, security and public amenities, to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
Naidu directed officials to launch an extensive publicity campaign on the airport from July 21 to July 31, saying the inauguration should become a “people’s celebration” with awareness programmes reaching households across the North Andhra districts.
He also suggested using the occasion to promote the branding of Araku Coffee, which has been highlighted by Prime Minister Modi on international platforms, and asked all public representatives from North Andhra to actively participate in the programmes leading up to the inauguration.
