BJP seeks probe into alleged religious instruction at Private school in Hyderabad; raises teacher’s termination

Hyderabad, July 16 (TNT): Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday demanded a comprehensive investigation into allegations that a Class II Hindu student of a private school in Saidabad, within Hyderabad Old City limits, was asked to recite and write the Kalma and Surah Al-Fatiha as part of her homework.

Addressing a press conference, Rao termed the alleged incident as “Education Jihad” and accused the Congress government of encouraging minority appeasement.

He alleged that the student’s mother, who questioned the school management after finding the homework, was subsequently dismissed from her job as a teacher at Success The School, Sayeedabad branch.

Meanwhile the school Principal terminated the teacher’s services with effect from June 16, 2026.

In its termination order, the principal stated that she had been permanently disqualified from seeking employment in any institution under the Success Group of Education.

Rao said merely removing a teacher was not sufficient and alleged that the school management should also be held accountable.

He demanded that the state government conduct an impartial inquiry, initiate strict legal action against those responsible and, if necessary, cancel the school’s recognition.

He also alleged that educational institutions should not compel students to follow religious practices unrelated to their faith and said schools must respect the constitutional rights of every student.

Meanwhile, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy also condemned the alleged incident and sought strict action against those responsible.

In a post on X, Kishan Reddy described the alleged act as an attempt at “religious indoctrination of innocent minors” and criticised the state government over the issue.
