Telangana CM urges Amazon to invest Rs 1 lakh Cr in Telangana
Hyderabad, July 15 (TNT); Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday invited Amazon to expand its presence in the state by investing ₹1 lakh crore by 2034, saying the company’s proposed data centre at Bharat Future City would catalyse fresh investments and industrial growth.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Amazon’s Data Center at Bharat Future City, the Chief Minister said the project would strengthen Telangana’s position as a preferred destination for global technology investments and encourage other companies to establish operations in the upcoming smart city.
Referring to the state’s long-term development strategy, Revanth Reddy said the government aims to transform Telangana into a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047 under its “Telangana Rising-2047” vision.
He said the state also intends to increase its contribution to the country’s GDP from the present 5 per cent to 10 per cent.
The Chief Minister said the government was committed to providing industries with all necessary infrastructure, clearances and policy support, adding that monthly review meetings were being conducted to monitor industrial investments.
A separate monthly review would also be held on Amazon’s proposed investments, he said.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s growth as a global technology hub, Revanth Reddy said the government is working towards making the city pollution-free by promoting electric mobility, rejuvenating the Musi River, expanding the Metro Rail network and relocating polluting industries.
He said the government plans to convert three lakh RTC buses into electric buses and retrofit around two lakh diesel-powered auto-rickshaws into electric vehicles, besides waiving registration taxes for electric vehicles despite an annual revenue loss of about ₹1,500 crore.
The Chief Minister also appreciated farmers who parted with their land for infrastructure projects, including the Regional Ring Road and radial roads, and directed officials to ensure adequate compensation and resolve pending issues.
He asked IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and former MLA K. Laxma Reddy to hold discussions with protesting farmers and explore employment opportunities for families that lost land in the development of Future City, in addition to providing fair compensation.
