Hi-Tech City Railway Station in Hyderabad redeveloped under Amrit Station Scheme at Rs 26 Cr
Hyderabad, July 11 (TNT): The South Central Railway (SCR) has completed the redevelopment of Hi-Tech City Railway Station in Hyderabad under the Amrit Station Scheme at a cost of ₹26 crore, with the upgraded station now ready for inauguration.
The redevelopment is part of the Ministry of Railways’ Amrit Station Scheme aimed at transforming railway stations across the country with modern passenger amenities and world-class infrastructure, the SCR said in a release here on Saturday.
The foundation stone for the redevelopment of stations in Telangana was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during 2023 and 2024.
Located on the Lingampalli–Secunderabad suburban corridor, Hi-Tech City Railway Station serves Hyderabad’s IT hub and caters to around 3,000 passengers daily.
About 62 suburban trains operate from the station, connecting Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Umdanagar, Falaknuma, Medchal and Ghatkesar.
The redevelopment includes a new station building with an improved façade, enhanced entrance portico and circulating area, a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge in addition to the existing bridge, two new passenger lifts, two escalators, improved platforms with additional shelter, a waiting hall, modern toilet blocks, landscaping, façade lighting and passenger-friendly signage.
Facilities for Divyangjan, along with upgraded drainage and water supply systems, have also been provided.
According to SCR, the upgraded station is expected to improve passenger convenience and support the growing commuter traffic in Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding IT corridor.
