Yashoda Hospitals Introduces Advanced Pulse Field Ablation Technology for Heart Rhythm Disorders
Hyderabad, July 4 (TNT): Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, on Saturday announced the successful introduction of Pulse Field Ablation (PFA), a next-generation technology for the treatment of complex heart rhythm disorders, after performing the advanced procedure on two patients using the Medtronic PulseSelect™ Pulse Field Ablation System.
The hospital said the first procedure was performed on a 31-year-old man diagnosed with Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation with Left Atrial Tachycardia, who had been suffering from recurrent palpitations and breathlessness.
The second patient, an 84-year-old man with Persistent Atrial Fibrillation, had been admitted with severe breathlessness. Both patients underwent successful PFA procedures, recovered well and were discharged after their heart rhythm was restored to normal, the hospital said in a release here.
Pulse Field Ablation is a non-thermal catheter ablation technique that uses precisely controlled pulsed electric fields to selectively target abnormal heart tissue responsible for irregular electrical signals.
Unlike conventional heat- or cold-based ablation methods, the technology minimises damage to surrounding healthy tissues, including the oesophagus and phrenic nerve, thereby improving procedural safety and enabling faster recovery, the hospital said.
The procedures were performed by Dr M.S. Chandramouli, Senior Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Heart Failure Specialist, along with the Electrophysiology team at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Chandramouli said Pulse Field Ablation marks a significant advancement in the treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders by enabling greater precision with minimal collateral tissue damage and improved patient safety.
He said the technology would help deliver better clinical outcomes while making globally advanced cardiac care available to patients in India.
Yashoda Hospitals said its Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for atrial fibrillation and other complex arrhythmias, besides providing advanced rhythm management therapies such as pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT), leadless pacemakers, conduction system pacing and heart failure management.
