Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Dismisses BJP’s Power Claim, Defends Govt’s Welfare Initiatives
Hyderabad, June 30 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday dismissed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s claim of forming the next government in Telangana and defended his government’s welfare and development initiatives.
Addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister responded to remarks made by Nitin Nabin that the BJP would come to power in the state after the next Assembly elections.
Revanth Reddy questioned the BJP over the implementation of promises made during previous elections, including the pledge to deposit ₹15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account and generate two crore jobs annually.
He alleged that while the promised employment had not materialised, the BJP’s organisational growth in Telangana had been limited to leadership positions held by Union Ministers Bandi Sanjay Kumar and G. Kishan Reddy.
The Chief Minister also criticised the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for demanding the resignation of his government.
“This government is not anybody’s personal property to resign,” he said, adding that his administration would not function on what he described as “a foundation of lies.”
Revanth Reddy said the government would proceed with major infrastructure projects, including the Musi River rejuvenation project, the Regional Ring Road and the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, despite opposition criticism.
Highlighting the government’s welfare measures, he said over ₹11,000 crore had been released to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation to implement the free bus travel scheme for women.
He said women’s self-help groups had been empowered through initiatives including ownership of 1,000 buses, establishment of 1,000 MW of solar power projects, allotment of petrol bunks and allocation of land worth ₹1,000 crore at Shilparamam for operating retail stalls.
The Chief Minister also said the government had provided 70,000 jobs during the past 30 months and questioned the BRS for opposing the recruitment notification to fill 5,000 vacancies in the police department.
Revanth Reddy said he had no desire for personal wealth or power, adding that public office was temporary and should be used for public service. He also said the government had supplied quality Bathukamma sarees and appealed to farmers to support the administration.
