AP CM stresses revamping outdated Acts to ease rules, benefit People

Amaravati, Feb 9 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday emphasised the urgent need to revamp outdated Acts, simplify rules and remove unnecessary clauses to make governance more people-friendly and responsive.

Addressing the Third Ministers and Secretaries Conference at the Secretariat here, Naidu said several laws framed decades ago no longer reflect present-day realities and often create avoidable hurdles for citizens.

He stressed that easing rules and procedures would not only benefit people but also improve ease of doing business and administrative efficiency.

Naidu said the Government of India is also reviewing obsolete laws and Andhra Pradesh should emerge as a role model in legislative and governance reforms by proactively modernising its legal framework.

He called upon ministers and officials to work with strong team spirit adopt best practices and leverage technology to ensure effective implementation of laws and delivery of government services.

Referring to the recent World Economic Forum at Davos, Naidu said Artificial Intelligence and energy transition were key global focus areas.

He said the State government is adopting deep technologies such as AI, quantum computing and data centres to improve the quality of life of people.

Highlighting achievements of the coalition government over the last 19 months, the Chief Minister said the Polavaram Project is nearing completion and will be operational before Godavari Pushkaram in 2027.

Capital works in Amaravati have gained momentum and the city will emerge as the most livable city in the country within three years, he asserted.

Naidu said the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has been put back on track, registering a profit of ₹54 crore. The government spent ₹1,100 crore on market intervention to support farmers and credited ₹10,000 crore into farmers’ accounts within 48 hours of paddy procurement.

He added that new tamper-proof pattadar passbooks with QR codes and blockchain security are being issued.

The Chief Minister said ₹24,000 crore has been spent on irrigation development, roads will be laid at a cost of ₹3,000 crore, and the State will be made garbage-free by March. Drinking water will be provided to all households under the Jal Jeevan Mission at a cost of ₹25,000 crore.

He also announced that Quantum Valley has been launched in Amaravati, data centres with 5 GW capacity are coming up in Visakhapatnam, and a Green Ammonia project has been initiated in Kakinada.

The Sanjeevani health project will be a game changer in the health sector, he said.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan stressed the need for stronger field-level performance by officials, while Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand delivered the inaugural address.
