Two Workers Charred to Death in Fire at Energy Plant in AP’s Anakapalli District; CM Condoles

Anakapalli (Andhra Pradesh), June 23: Two workers were charred to death after a major fire broke out at Dakshin Energy, a plastic pyrolysis oil manufacturing unit, in Parawada Pharma City of Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Vepada Venkatesh and Trinath, both aged below 27 years and residents of Atchutapuram, police said.

According to preliminary reports, the blaze was triggered by an explosion in a tank used for recycling plastic waste into oil at the company’s facility located in the JNBC Industrial Park near Pharma City.

The fire spread rapidly through the plant, trapping workers inside.

Officials said firefighting personnel responded swiftly, with two fire tenders from the Pharma City Fire Station and another from the Parawada Fire Station rushing to the spot and bringing the blaze under control.

Police and district administration officials also reached the site and launched rescue and relief operations. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion and the subsequent fire.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound grief over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased workers.

The Chief Minister spoke to district officials and reviewed the circumstances leading to the accident. He directed authorities to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical treatment and instructed the administration to extend all necessary assistance and support to the affected families.

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha also expressed shock over the tragedy and spoke with Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan and Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha to review the situation.

The Minister directed officials to expedite relief operations and assured all possible assistance to the families of the victims. She also said the government would take steps to prevent the recurrence of such industrial accidents.
