: Quality Research Essential for Strong Universities, Says BRAOU VC Chakrapani
Hyderabad, June 16 (TNT): Emphasising the importance of research-driven education, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) Vice-Chancellor Ghanta Chakrapani on Tuesday said universities must focus on high-quality research and integrate research findings into academic curricula to enhance the quality of higher education.
He was speaking at an awareness workshop on “INFLIBNET Research Services” organised by the Centre for Skill Development and Training (CSTD) at the BRAOU campus in Hyderabad.
Prof. Chakrapani urged academicians and researchers to make effective use of INFLIBNET, a central government-supported research information network, noting that it offers a wide range of tools and resources to strengthen research activities.
He stressed the need to create greater opportunities for advancing the country’s research ecosystem through the integration of research-based knowledge, skill development, value-based education and accountability.
The Vice-Chancellor also said that research activities at BRAOU are being conducted in a comprehensive and systematic manner and noted that faculty members from other universities have often acknowledged the institution’s efforts in promoting research.
The programme was presided over by Prof. E. Sudha Rani, In-charge Director (Academic), who said the university has been organising workshops for research scholars to facilitate the production of quality research papers.
INFLIBNET Director Devika P. Madalli participated virtually and explained the various services offered by the organisation.
She also spoke on issues related to copyright compliance in research and methods of collecting reliable information and data during the research process.
Prof. K. Sridevi, Director of CSTD, highlighted the university’s efforts to strengthen its digital learning infrastructure and explained the significance of the workshop.
Prof. C. Venkataiah, Research Division Coordinator, and Prof. A.R.D. Prasad, Workshop Coordinator, attended the event as guests of honour.
During the technical sessions, INFLIBNET scientists delivered presentations on key research platforms and services.
Dr. Abhishek Kumar spoke on Shodh Chakra, K. Manoj Kumar on Shodh Ganga, Dr. Surbhi on Shodh Shuddhi, and Pallab Pradhan on IRINS.
The workshop was attended by university directors, deans, faculty members and research scholars.
