Lubrizol, Grasim Inaugurate CPVC Resin Plant in Gujarat

Mumbai, June 16(TNT): Lubrizol, in partnership with Grasim Industries Ltd, on Tuesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) resin manufacturing facility at Vilayat in Gujarat, significantly expanding domestic production capacity for high-performance plumbing and piping solutions.

The new facility, coupled with the recently expanded CPVC compounding capacity at Lubrizol’s Dahej plant, has created one of India’s largest and most integrated CPVC manufacturing footprints, aimed at meeting the country’s growing infrastructure and water management needs, the company said in a release here.

According to the company, the Vilayat facility will enhance Lubrizol’s ability to provide end-to-end CPVC solutions by ensuring a reliable domestic supply of CPVC resin and compounds used in pipes and fittings across residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

The integrated manufacturing ecosystem is expected to strengthen supply-chain resilience while supporting India’s infrastructure development goals.

Speaking on the occasion, Abhishek Shrivastav, Managing Director, India, Middle East and Africa (IMEA), Lubrizol, said the company had introduced CPVC technology to India more than two decades ago and had witnessed sustained market growth alongside the country’s economic expansion.

“With the commissioning of this world-class facility in Vilayat, we are strengthening our manufacturing capabilities in India through a local-for-local approach. This investment reflects our long-term commitment to ensuring access to high-quality, locally produced materials backed by Lubrizol’s global standards of innovation, reliability and performance,” he said.

The commissioning of the facility marks a significant milestone in Lubrizol’s 60-year presence in India and aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Jayant V. Dhobley, Business Head and CEO, Global Chemicals, Aditya Birla Group, said the project combines Grasim’s manufacturing expertise with Lubrizol’s advanced CPVC technology to deliver reliable and scalable solutions for the Indian market.

CPVC is widely used in hot and cold water distribution systems, fire sprinkler networks, HVAC systems and industrial piping due to its high heat resistance, corrosion resistance, durability and hygienic properties. Industry experts consider it a preferred material for modern infrastructure projects requiring long service life and dependable water delivery.

Lubrizol said it remains committed to operating its facilities in India with high standards of safety and environmental responsibility through sustainable manufacturing practices and stringent global safety protocols.

The company has recently expanded its footprint in India through the commissioning of a Global Capabilities Center in Pune, capacity expansion at its Dahej CPVC compounding facility, expansion of its Mumbai office, progress on the Grasim partnership and plans for a dedicated India Innovation Center.
