Hyderabad Water Technology Expert Sharath Maroju Receives FTCCI Excellence Award
Hyderabad, June 9 (TNT): Sharath Chandra Maroju, Chief Executive Officer and Founder Director of Syndic Consulting Engineers and Technologies Pvt. Ltd., has been conferred the FTCCI Excellence Award 2026 for Excellence in Science and Engineering (Individual) in recognition of his contributions to sustainable water and wastewater management.
The award was presented at the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) Excellence Awards ceremony held in Hyderabad on Tuesday in the presence of Telangana Minister for Information Technology and Industries D. Sridhar Babu.
The award was presented by FTCCI President R. Ravi Kumar, Senior Vice-President K.K. Maheshwari and Vice-President Srinivas Garimella. The awards committee was chaired by K. Bhasker Reddy.
The FTCCI Excellence Awards recognise outstanding achievements across sectors including industry, exports, environmental, social and governance (ESG), product innovation and social enterprise.
Addressing the gathering, Sridhar Babu highlighted the growing contribution of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to Telangana’s economy and reiterated the State Government’s commitment to the “Make in Telangana” vision.
He also underscored the importance of technology and innovation in building a competitive and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Maroju has spent more than two decades working on technologies aimed at treating industrial water and wastewater as recoverable resources rather than waste.
His company has implemented effluent treatment plants, sewage treatment systems, reverse osmosis facilities and zero-liquid-discharge solutions across various industries.
He has also authored several technical papers and articles, published three books and filed a patent for an integrated process that recovers electrolyzer-grade water from pharmaceutical wastewater for use in green hydrogen production.
Speaking after receiving the award, Maroju said sustainable water management must become a standard industrial practice.
“Industry can no longer treat water as something to be used once and discarded. The task ahead is to recover, reuse and return every drop, and to make that ordinary practice rather than the exception,” he said.
The recognition highlights his contributions to advancing water sustainability, resource recovery and circular economy solutions in the industrial sector.
