Telangana Govt Approves Ambedkar Knowledge Centre, Modern Hostel Projects in Hyderabad: Dy CM Bhatti
Hyderabad, June 8 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Monday said the state government is committed to building a welfare-oriented society through investments in education and knowledge infrastructure, announcing that financial and administrative approvals have been granted for the construction of the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Centre and the modernization of the historic Nimboli Adda Hostel in Hyderabad.
After inspecting the proposed sites along with Adluri Laxman Kumar, Bhatti said the government has sanctioned the construction of the Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Knowledge Centre near Lower Tank Bund at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore and a modern hostel complex at Nimboli Adda in Kachiguda at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore.
“These are not merely buildings but modern temples of knowledge that will help thousands of students improve their educational opportunities and prepare for competitive examinations,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre would be built with a cellar, ground floor and ten additional floors and would house study circles, digital libraries, conference halls and technology-enabled learning facilities.
He said the government had already released ₹5 crore for demolition of the existing structure at the site and allocated ₹50 crore in the current budget to expedite construction.
According to Bhatti, the proposed centre will become the hub of a statewide network of Ambedkar Knowledge Centres to be established in every Assembly constituency.
“Students from poor, backward, marginalized and middle-class families should not have to migrate to Hyderabad and incur huge expenses for coaching. Through a digital network, lessons delivered by top faculty from the main centre will be streamed to knowledge centres across the state,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the initiative would support unemployed youth by providing free coaching and access to quality educational resources, helping them prepare for government recruitment examinations and other competitive tests.
He said seminars featuring national and international scholars would also be organized at the centre, creating a platform for intellectual exchange and knowledge dissemination.
Bhatti noted that the previous government had laid the foundation stone for the project in 2016 but failed to execute it.
“The present government is determined to complete the project at the earliest and without compromising on quality. The Welfare Department has been instructed to adopt the best architectural designs and construction standards,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced the modernization of the historic Nimboli Adda Hostel in Kachiguda, which has provided accommodation to generations of economically disadvantaged students.
The facility will be redeveloped and renamed the Babu Jagjivan Ram Knowledge Centre, with plans to transform it into a modern educational and residential complex.
Bhatti said the government is preparing a comprehensive action plan for the execution of both projects and invited suggestions from intellectuals, community leaders and students to further strengthen the initiatives.
The inspection was attended by Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, MLAs , MLC Addanki Dayakar, Telangana Christian Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Deepak John and senior officials of the Social Welfare Department.
