Three New Corporations Created for Administrative Convenience, Not Politics: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad, June 7 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday rejected allegations that the creation of three municipal corporations through the trifurcation of Greater Hyderabad was politically motivated, stating that the decision was taken purely for administrative convenience and better governance.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the new Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation building and several development projects, the Chief Minister said the reorganisation was intended to improve service delivery and administrative coordination.
“They were established for administrative convenience, not for elections,” he said, responding to criticism from opposition parties.
Reddy said the government was constructing a state-of-the-art Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation building with modern facilities and international standards.
He added that the jurisdictions of municipal and police departments had been aligned to ensure better coordination and efficient governance.
The Chief Minister said foundation stones were laid for development projects worth approximately ₹1,600 crore and assured residents that the government would provide all necessary funds for the region’s growth.
He said major initiatives, including road development, lake beautification and Metro Rail expansion, would be taken up to improve infrastructure and quality of life.
Calling for collective efforts towards development, Reddy said political differences should be confined to election periods.
“Let us engage in politics only during elections. We must work together for the development of Hyderabad,” he said, adding that he was willing to cooperate with elected representatives irrespective of their political affiliation.
The Chief Minister observed that lack of coordination among departments had hampered development in the past. To address this, the government has introduced the ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ vision document to guide long-term development planning, infrastructure management, administrative reforms and the rejuvenation of the Musi River.
Noting the large participation of women at the public meeting, Reddy stressed the importance of giving women priority seating at public events and acknowledged their role in his political journey.
He thanked women for their support, saying their encouragement had helped him rise from the position of a ZPTC member to that of Chief Minister.
Recalling his association with the Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency, the Chief Minister said the people of the constituency stood by him after a political setback in Kodangal and elected him to the Lok Sabha.
Describing Malkajgiri as a “Mini India” because of its diverse population, he said his election from the constituency paved the way for his appointment as Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
“The Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency played a crucial role in the formation of the people’s government and in my becoming Chief Minister,” he said.
Reddy also acknowledged the significant contribution of women voters to his political success and alleged that development in the Malkajgiri region had suffered during the previous regime due to a lack of cooperation from the then government.
He assured residents that the present government would focus on comprehensive and planned development to transform the region into a model urban centre.
