Telangana Dy CM directs Full Preparedness in Gurukul Schools Ahead of Academic Year

Hyderabad, May 27 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday directed officials to ensure complete preparedness in Gurukul and welfare residential educational institutions ahead of the upcoming academic year.

Chairing a review meeting with District Collector Divakar TS, Additional Collector Dr P. Srija, Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt and other officials, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed that there should be no negligence in the functioning of Gurukul institutions.

Bhatti instructed officials to focus on increasing admissions in Gurukul schools every year and ensure that every available seat is filled.

He also directed authorities to conduct a special study on institutions where seats remain vacant, identify the reasons and resolve the issues immediately.

Since the new academic year is scheduled to commence on June 12, he said all repair and infrastructure works should be completed during the summer vacation itself.

The Deputy CM directed officials to prominently display diet charges and menu details in every residential school and instructed that a district-level officer be appointed as in-charge for each Gurukul institution.

He said the designated officers must visit schools every month and submit inspection reports, while district officials should conduct regular inspections without fail.

Bhatti also instructed that doctors conduct monthly health examinations of students as part of routine monitoring in residential institutions.

Officials were directed to submit a comprehensive report on Gurukul institutions currently functioning in rented buildings.

The Deputy CM also ordered speedy completion of the five Young India Integrated School buildings under construction.

He asked authorities to prepare an advance plan detailing how many SC, ST, BC and Minority Gurukul institutions operating in rented premises could be shifted once the Young India schools are completed.

Regional coordinators were instructed to inspect all schools within the next 12 days according to a prescribed checklist and submit detailed reports.

Emphasising student welfare, Bhatti said timely supply of textbooks and uniforms for the upcoming academic year should be treated as a top priority.

He stated that the government was allocating substantial funds for education and regularly releasing staff salaries, diet charges, building rents and repair funds, leaving no scope for negligence.

The Deputy CM further said pending bills related to Amma Adarsha School Committees had been cleared and added that District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) funds would also be utilised for clearing education department work bills.

Noting that educational institutions receive free electricity, he directed officials to prepare an action plan for installing solar panels in Gurukul institutions functioning in their own buildings.

Regional coordinators of Gurukul institutions, NPDCL officials and education department authorities participated in the review meeting.
