MoPR to hold Regional Workshop on Panchayat-led Service Delivery in Guwahati on May 29

New Delhi, May 27 (TNT): Ministry of Panchayati Raj will organise a regional workshop titled “Seva Se Samriddhi: Panchayat-led Service Delivery” in Guwahati on May 29, aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and improving public service delivery in rural India.

The workshop is being organised in collaboration with Common Services Centre Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV) and the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of Assam.

According to the Ministry, the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Ease of Living in rural India through empowered and accountable Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies.

The event will be chaired by Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj S. P. Singh Baghel and attended by Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Atul Bora.

Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Vivek Bharadwaj, senior officials from the Ministry, CSC-SPV, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the Government of Assam will also participate in the programme.

The workshop will bring together Panchayat representatives, Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), government officials and stakeholders from seven States — Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan and Telangana.

Representatives from civil society organisations, academic institutions, research bodies and organisations working in rural technology and digital public infrastructure, including BHASHINI, are also expected to participate.

The Ministry said the workshop would focus on strengthening Panchayat-led service delivery through digital transformation, multilingual governance, citizen participation and innovation in grassroots administration.

Panel discussions, technical sessions and State-level presentations will facilitate inter-State knowledge exchange and showcase scalable governance models.

The event will also feature a special session highlighting Assam’s “Sewa Setu” initiative and felicitate top-performing Gram Panchayats and Champion Common Services Centres from participating States.
