Telangana Cabinet Clears Land Allocation for Centre’s Paramilitary Forces Group Centre in Karimnagar

Hyderabad, May 23 (TNT): The Telangana Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday approved allocation of 14 acres of land for the proposed Group Centre for central paramilitary forces in Karimnagar district.

The land allocation includes four acres at Veldi in Manakondur mandal, five acres at Rukmapur in Choppadandi mandal and another five acres at Ganneruvaram.

The proposed Group Centre is intended for central forces including the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Central Reserve Police Force.

With the Cabinet clearing the land allocation proposal, the Centre is expected to take a final decision on establishment of the paramilitary forces Group Centre shortly.

The initiative gained momentum following efforts by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who recently held discussions with Director Generals of the respective forces regarding establishment of the Group Centre in Karimnagar.

Officials reportedly informed the Union Minister that the proposal could be considered if the Telangana government provided suitable land for the project.

Subsequently, Bandi Sanjay Kumar wrote to the Telangana Chief Secretary on March 10 requesting allocation of land for the proposed Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles Group Centre.

In his letter, the Union Minister stated that the Centre was examining the proposal for establishing a Group Centre for Assam Rifles, BSF and CISF in Karimnagar and that the concerned Director Generals had already accorded in-principle approval.

Following the request, the Telangana government directed the concerned departments to submit proposals. Based on recommendations forwarded by the district collector and subsequent examination by the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, the matter was placed before the Cabinet for approval.
