EEPC India Holds Hyderabad Roadshow for Pharma MachTech & LabNext Expo 2026

Hyderabad, May 15 (TNT): Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC India)  organised a roadshow here on Friday ahead of the second edition of the Pharma MachTech & abNext Expo 2026, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders from the pharmaceutical machinery and laboratory equipment sectors.

The event, held at a hotel here, featured interactive sessions focusing on positioning India as a global innovation hub for pharma machinery and laboratory equipment manufacturing.

The second edition of Pharma MachTech & LabNext Expo 2026 is scheduled to be held from September 7 to 9, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The exhibitions will be co-located with iPHEX, one of the major pharmaceutical expos globally, showcasing the entire pharma and healthcare engineering value chain on a common platform.

Addressing the gathering, Akshay S.C., Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Hyderabad region, said the future growth of India’s pharmaceutical sector depends significantly on the strength of the domestic steel and manufacturing industries.

He stressed the importance of aligning manufacturing standards with global market requirements and called for accelerated domestic production of specialised machinery.

Earlier, Adhip Mitra, Executive Director and Secretary of EEPC India, said India aims to raise pharmaceutical exports to US$130 billion by 2030, requiring manufacturers and exporters to shift towards value-based and innovation-driven excellence.

He noted that Pharma MachTech & LabNext Expo 2026 would provide opportunities to explore innovations in Pharma 4.0, automation, precision drug delivery systems and advanced laboratory equipment.

He added that seminars, conferences and buyer-seller meetings with global delegations would help participants gain industry insights and business opportunities.

During the roadshow, a seminar titled “Transforming Pharma & Biotech Industries through Smart Manufacturing and Next-Gen Laboratory Solutions” was also organised. Rakesh Suraj made a presentation on the upcoming expo, while experts discussed innovation, sustainability, digital transformation and advanced manufacturing practices in the sector.

The Hyderabad roadshow assumed significance as the city contributes nearly one-third of the global vaccine supply and around 40 per cent of India’s total bulk drug production. Engineering clusters such as Jeedimetla, Balanagar and Kukatpally form a crucial part of the pharmaceutical engineering supply chain.

According to industry data shared during the event, India’s domestic pharma machinery sector is currently growing at a CAGR of 8–10 per cent, though high-end equipment segments continue to rely heavily on imports.

Pharma machinery exports recorded a CAGR of 15.3 per cent over the last five years, while imports grew at 10.5 per cent. India currently maintains a negative trade balance in the segment.

Lab equipment exports grew at 8.3 per cent CAGR during the same period, while imports increased by 7 per cent, with the country continuing to witness a trade deficit in the category.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Arun Shukla, who appreciated the participation of industry executives and stakeholders.

The programme also witnessed the presence of Pankaj Chadha, K. Narendran of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), and Suresh Babu from the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC).
