AGI Greenpac Begins Rs 1,000 Cr Aluminium Can Plant in UP, Operations by 2027

New Delhi, May 5 (TNT): AGI Greenpac Limited on Tuesday announced the commencement of construction of its aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of ₹1,000 crore.

The Greenfield project, spread across 34 acres, is being developed as a state-of-the-art manufacturing hub equipped with advanced high-speed production technology.

The plant is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2027, the company said in a release.

According to the company, the facility will initially operate with two production lines capable of producing a combined 1.6 billion cans annually, with targeted output of 1.3 billion cans.

The capacity can be further scaled to over 2 billion cans per year through future upgrades.

The plant will manufacture a wide range of aluminium beverage cans, including standard, sleek and slim formats, catering to segments such as carbonated drinks, beer, energy drinks and ready-to-drink beverages.

Commenting on the development, CEO Rajesh Khosla said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in India’s growing packaging sector and its commitment to building future-ready and sustainable manufacturing infrastructure.

The company said sustainability is a core focus of the project, with the facility being designed to achieve a Platinum Green Building rating. The use of aluminium, which is fully recyclable, aligns with the increasing demand for environmentally sustainable packaging solutions.

Strategically located in Uttar Pradesh, the plant will offer proximity to key markets in North and Central India, enabling faster deliveries, reduced logistics costs and improved service efficiency.

Industry estimates indicate that India’s aluminium beverage can capacity currently stands at around 3.9 billion cans annually and is expected to grow at a double-digit rate, driven by rising urban consumption and premiumisation trends.
