New Delhi, May 4 (TNT): Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said the results of the Assembly elections in five states reflect the people’s continued trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his leadership.
Addressing a press conference here, Kishan Reddy said the mandate indicates that the people across the country have “blessed Narendra Modi,” adding that the BJP is set to form a government in West Bengal for the first time with a strong majority under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
He alleged that the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had pushed the state into “disarray” over the past 15 years, claiming that lawlessness and corruption had increased.
Kishan Reddy further alleged large-scale irregularities in coal mining regions, stating that TMC leaders were involved in illegal mining activities and scams causing significant losses to the exchequer.
He said constituencies in coal belt areas, including Raniganj, have delivered a strong mandate in favour of the BJP.
He also claimed that industrial decline under successive governments, including the Left and the TMC, had led to unemployment and migration of youth from the state.
The Union Minister accused the TMC of allowing illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and alleged that such elements were provided identity documents and access to welfare schemes.
He further alleged incidents of violence and atrocities in the state.
Stating that the BJP’s victory would usher in “good days” for the people of West Bengal, he said the formation of a “double-engine government” would accelerate development.
Targeting the Indian National Congress, he said the party was “shrinking” under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, adding that people across the country were increasingly favouring double-engine governments.
He expressed confidence that the BJP would expand its presence in South India, including Telangana, where he said the election results would have a positive impact.
Kishan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Telangana on May 10, his first visit after assuming office for a third term, during which several development programmes would be launched.
He also criticised previous governments in Telangana, alleging corruption and misuse of power, and said there had been no significant change even after the Congress assumed office.
The Union Minister congratulated BJP workers, supporters and newly elected legislators for the party’s performance in the elections.
