AP CM Naidu’s Two-Day TN Campaign Draws Good Response; Bats for Ganga–Cauvery Link

Chennai, Apr 21 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s two-day election campaign in Tamil Nadu in support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) received an encouraging response, party sources said on Tuesday.

During his tour, Naidu covered key regions including Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Chennai, addressing public meetings, taking part in roadshows and interacting with local leaders and prominent personalities to mobilise support for NDA candidates.

Candidates from constituencies such as Coimbatore North, Coimbatore South, Singanallur, Kaundampalayam, Sulur, Thali, Anna Nagar, T. Nagar, Villivakkam, Sattur and Kovilpatti participated in the campaign events.

Focusing on development, corruption and law and order, Naidu stressed the need for an NDA government in Tamil Nadu, saying the “double-engine government” model has accelerated growth in Andhra Pradesh and can deliver similar results in the state.

Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s progress, he said investments from global firms such as Google and ArcelorMittal were facilitated by strong support from the Centre.

On inter-state water disputes, particularly between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Naidu proposed river interlinking as a long-term solution and advocated the Ganga–Cauvery link project to ensure water security.

He also recalled the Telugu Ganga project supplying drinking water to Chennai, underscoring cooperation between the two states, and called for unity between Telugu and Tamil communities.

Referring to cultural ties, he cited the association between N. T. Rama Rao and M. G. Ramachandran, and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts towards national development.

Criticising the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam over its stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill and delimitation, he alleged that the party had failed to safeguard women’s interests.

He also explained the Centre’s proposal to increase seats by 50 per cent irrespective of population, aimed at addressing concerns of southern states.

Naidu’s speeches in Tamil during the campaign drew appreciation from the audience, party sources added.
