Hyderabad, Apr 20 (TNT): Telangana State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao, offered floral tributes to Basaveshwara on his 895th birth anniversary at Tank Bund here on Monday.
Extending greetings on the occasion of Basava Jayanthi, Rao conveyed best wishes to the people of Telangana, followers of Basaveshwara, and particularly the Lingayat community.
In his address, he noted that many leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have drawn inspiration from Basaveshwara’s life and teachings.
He highlighted initiatives such as the celebration of Basaveshwara Jayanti at Parliament, the unveiling of Basaveshwara’s statue in London, and the reflection of his ideals in welfare programmes, including women’s empowerment measures.
Rao said Basaveshwara, during his tenure as a minister, worked to ensure justice and social equality, and called upon people to follow his path.
He emphasised the saint’s teachings on equality, social harmony, and a society free from caste and religious discrimination.
Stating that Basaveshwara’s philosophy remains highly relevant today, he urged people to uphold his ideals for social and national development.
Several BJP karyakartas also participated in the programme.
