Amaravati, Apr 16 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed officials to implement micro- and macro-level planning to achieve a 15% growth rate in the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Chairing a Finance Department review meeting at the Secretariat, Naidu stressed the need for short-, medium-, and long-term strategies, stating that effective execution at the field level would be crucial to achieving growth targets.
The Chief Minister said the government is ensuring supply of water and electricity to agriculture and industry, and called for enhanced productivity across sectors.
Despite financial constraints, he noted that electricity tariffs have not been increased, even as the state is bearing an additional burden of ₹4,600 crore due to past decisions.
He asked revenue-generating departments to meet targets without burdening the public.
Highlighting infrastructure-led development, the Chief Minister said projects such as Amaravati Capital City Project and Polavaram Project would significantly contribute to wealth creation and economic growth.
He assured that funds for priority projects would not be a constraint and expressed confidence in completing them with Central support.
Naidu directed officials to utilise Central schemes such as Purvodaya and SASCI for development programmes and to secure funds due under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
The Chief Minister said welfare schemes would continue as per schedule, noting that 269 Anna Canteens are providing meals to the poor across the state.
He also emphasised improving administrative efficiency, simplifying procedures, and creating a conducive environment to attract investments and boost revenues.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, Principal Secretary (Finance) Piyush Kumar, and other senior officials were present.
