AI, Tax Monitoring Help Boost Revenue: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Apr 10 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Friday said the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and continuous monitoring of tax revenues across departments has helped improve revenue generation in the State.

Chairing the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on Revenue Generation and Resource Mobilisation at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat, Bhatti said modern technology and systematic administration were contributing to higher revenues in several departments.

The Deputy Chief Minister said AI-based monitoring has particularly strengthened revenue generation in the mining and transport departments.

He directed officials to take stringent action against illegal sand mining, crusher operations, illegal transportation and overloading.

He said GST collections in the Commercial Taxes Department recorded a 15 per cent increase over the last three months due to continuous reviews and strict tax administration measures.

Revenue in the Registration Department has also improved, he added.

Bhatti said meetings of the Revenue Generation and Resource Mobilisation Cabinet Sub-Committee will be held every Friday to review progress and strengthen revenue streams.

He instructed all departments to prepare revenue mobilisation plans in line with the goal of achieving a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, who attended the meeting, suggested that land sales by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) be promoted globally to improve revenue opportunities through wider outreach.

Bhatti directed Registration Department officials to place before the Sub-Committee the reports of committees studying land value revisions before submitting them to the Cabinet.

The meeting also reviewed metro rail acquisition, management, revenue and expenditure, besides progress in increasing revenues in the Excise, Revenue and Industries departments.

Bhatti instructed officials to present Action Taken Reports on decisions taken in each meeting during subsequent reviews.
