AP CM Flags Off Advanced Fire Tenders, Pushes for Modernisation of Fire Services

Amaravati, Apr 7 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday flagged off newly inducted advanced fire tenders and equipment as part of efforts to modernise the state’s fire and disaster management system.

The initiative, with an overall outlay of ₹252.93 crore, includes induction of vehicles and equipment worth ₹33.25 crore in the first phase.

Addressing the gathering, Naidu said the Andhra Pradesh Fire & Disaster Management Department would be developed into a model for other states and stressed that saving lives must remain the top priority.

Under the first phase, the government procured 25 advanced fire tenders at a cost of ₹18 crore, 40 Quick Response Vehicles with high-pressure pumps at ₹10 crore, 50 inflatable rubber boats at ₹2.49 crore and 30 breathing apparatus set compressors at ₹2.08 crore.

The Chief Minister said with Amaravati emerging as the capital and the rise of high-rise buildings, the department must be equipped with modern tools and technology to meet evolving challenges.

He directed officials to effectively utilise Central and State government funds to strengthen preparedness and ensure the department is capable of handling all types of emergencies.

Home Minister V. Anitha, Fire Services Director General P. V. Ramana, Home Department Principal Secretary Kumar Vishwajit and senior officials were present.
